Safeguarding & Privacy
Protecting all, respecting each other.
At St Michael the Archangel Church, we are fully committed to creating and maintaining a safe and caring environment for all – especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding is central to our Christian ministry, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect and support all those who come through our doors.
St Michael the Archangel PCC operates a formal Safeguarding Policy, in accordance with the Church of England’s National Safeguarding Standards (2021), and the Diocese of London’s safeguarding guidance, to ensure a safe environment for all.

Prevention
We have up-to-date safeguarding policies in place to reduce the risk of harm and abuse. We train and equip our staff and volunteers to spot concerns early and take appropriate action.
(National Standard: Policies, Procedures and Guidance)
Recognising, Assessing and Managing Risk
We carry out safer recruitment practices, DBS checks, and risk assessments. We also provide supervision and training so that risks can be understood, monitored and addressed.
(National Standard: Safer Recruitment and People Management)
Victims and Survivors – Listening and Support
We believe that victims and survivors must be listened to with compassion and respect. We aim to offer support that is sensitive, confidential and trauma-informed.
(National Standard: Responding to Safeguarding Concerns)
Learning and Improvement
We are always learning – through training, feedback, and reflecting on what could be done better. We regularly review our practice to ensure we are doing all we can to protect others.
