Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions below.

  • How do I contact your church if my question isn't answered in the FAQ section?

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, and/or comments via our 'Get in Touch' page or using one of our 'Contact Us' buttons. Alternatively, call us on 020 8902 3290, or email us directly at info@stmichaelchurchwembley.co.uk.

  • Is there parking available?

The church has a small carpark available for approximately 25 vehicles. Unfortunately, we cannot reserve parking spaces - it is on a first come first, parked basis. Parking is also available on the surrounding residential streets (except for on Wembley Event Days).

  • Do I need to be an Anglican to come to your church?

Not at all. All are welcome - whatever your background, beliefs, or church experience.

  • Do you livestream or record your service?

Yes. If you are unable to attend in person, a recording is available each week, so you can still stay connected.

  • Is the church accessible?

Yes. If you have specific needs, let us know and we will do our best to support you.

  • Can I bring my children?

Yes. Families are a big part of our community. We have a Sunday School which runs during service. There is also a children's area, with activities, to the rear of the church.

  • Do you baptise babies or adults?

We do both! Whether it is a child, a young person, or an adult, we see baptism as a special step in someone's journey of faith. Contact Us, if you are interested.

  • Do I need to be baptised to have my children baptised?

Not necessarily. We will talk with you about the promises made during the service. Many parents find it meaningful to be baptised themselves too.

  • How much does it cost to be baptised?

Baptism is a gift of the Church - there is no fee.

    Donations are always welcome.

  • At what age can I be confirmed?

There is no fixed age, but many are confirmed in their early teens or as adults when they feel ready to affirm their faith for themselves.

  • Do I need to be baptised before I can be confirmed?

Yes. If you have not be baptised, that can be arranged as part of the confirmation service.

  • What do I have to do to be confirmed?

You will have to take part in a short preparation course to explore what confirmation means and what is looks like to live as a Christian. The confirmation service is led by a bishop, who will pray for you and lay hands on your head as a sign of God's spirit and blessing.

  • Can I hire the church hall for an event?

Yes! Our church hall is available for private functions, community events, children’s parties, classes, workshops and more. We love to see the space used in ways that bless others.

  • How much does it cost to hire the hall?

    on 07726 787 908.

  • Can I view the hall before booking?

Absolutely! We encourage viewings so you can get a sense of the space. You can take a quiet look around via our Gallery page or come down as see us on a Wednesday between 4:00pm and 7:00pm – we will be happy to show you around.

  • Can I just turn up on a Sunday if I want to come to church?

    Absolutely!

  • What should I expect?

Our services include a mix of worship, prayer, Bible teaching and time spent together as a community. There is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and we are always happy to see new faces.

Stick around after the service for a cuppa and a chat - it is a great way to meet people and feel at home.

  • Is there a dress code for Sunday service?

There is no strict dress code - we are just glad you are here. You will find that most people wear smart-casual clothing, but it really varies. Some dress up a little, others come more relaxed. Whatever you are comfortable in, you are welcome to come as you are.

  • How long is the service?

Our Sunday service usually lasts about 90 minutes, followed by tea, coffee and a chance to chat and meet others.

  • What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before service starts. This will give you time to find a seat, say hello, and settle in for the service.

  • How do I become a member of the church?

If you have been attending church for a while and want to call this church home, we would love to talk to you regarding your next steps - Get in Touch.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself! Some people bring a Bible. However, we display all service readings and lyrics on screen. We also provide printed sheets and hymn books, if required.

  • What if I need prayer or pastoral support?

You are not alone – and you do not have to walk through anything in silence. We believe in the power of prayer and care deeply for our church family. If you would like someone to pray with you, talk confidentially or make a home visit, simply fill out our Pastoral Care Request Form, or speak to one of the clergy after service.

  • I am attending a funeral at your church, what should I wear?

Traditional formal clothing in dark colours is usually expected, but the family may request otherwise. If the family want people to wear bright colours instead of traditional black clothing, this will usually be communicated to mourners beforehand.

  • How long is a funeral service?

Funerals can take anything from 30 minutes to over an hour, depending on the Order of Service. Occasionally, a funeral service may include Holy Mass and the giving of Holy Communion, also known as a Requiem Mass. The length of the funeral service depends on the choice of hymns, readings, funeral music, eulogy and other elements of the service.

  • Is it possible to get married at St Michaels even though I do not live in the area?

Yes, it is possible to get married in a church that is away from where you live if you have a certain connection with it.

  • How far in advance should I book my wedding?

We recommend getting in touch as early as possible to secure your preferred date and begin planning your service.

Complete our Hall Hire Enquiry Form or call us on 07726 787 908, and a member of our team will be happy to assist you. Bookings are only confirmed once we have received your deposit and signed agreement.
